Today, we focus on deploying a patch to remediate CVE-2024-39424 which affects Adobe Acrobat and Reader versions 20.005.30636, 24.002.20965, 24.002.20964, 24.001.30123 and earlier.

  • Go to Control Panel -> Programs -> Programs and Features and check if Adobe Acrobat and Reader is installed on your system and if its version is or less 20.005.30636, 24.002.20965, 24.002.20964, 24.001.30123

Manual Patch deployment

  1. You can download the patch from Patch Astra, just search for “CVE-2024-39424” and download the patch for your system. Alternatively, you can download the patch directly from the vendor website.
  2. Once the patch file is downloaded on your target machine, go ahead and double-click on the .exe installer and now you just have to proceed and install the patch on your system.
  3. This patch will not require any restart.
  4. To verify the patch is applied correctly, go to Control Panel -> Programs -> Programs and Features, check for the version of the Adobe Acrobat Reader, and ensure that it is equal to the latest version.
